online image storing

One of the reasons I love magazines is that when I'm done reading it, I can cut out all the pretty / inspirational things. Of course, you can't really do that online. ...except that now you can!

I'm sure there are a ton of similar websites, but weheartit is really easy to use (though it does crash pretty often...). All you really need to do is download the bookmarklet into your browser toolbar. The next time you see something you like, click the bookmarlet and boxes will pop up around the pictures in the website you're looking at. Then simply click the heart, and you're done!

Mini Ceramic Vessels

I saw these and fell in love, they're so cute! Completely unnecessary, but so cute!

mini ceramic vessels

we adore these little containers. the perfect amount of cute without being cutesy. just right on your desk or lined up on a window sill or shelf.

white ceramic vessels fitted with wooden tops. each one has a hole (mushroom has 3) at top for a sprig of greenery or a stem to poke through. apple has tiny faux leather stem for a handle.

sizes vary from 2" to 2 1/2" tall, approximately 2" in diameter.

where the wild things are

I loved the book as a kid, and when I heard it was being adapted for a movie, I was scared. But when I saw the preview, I knew, just knew, that I was going to love it. Spike Jones, Arcade Fire, the images, the costumes, the font. That font! The letters with fur and feet and teeth!

And now I've tracked it down. It's done by a guy named Geoff Mcfetridge, and dammit if his other work isn't also amazing. Enjoy!

Barcode Design

Barcodes are a necessary part of the retail environment, especially on book jackets. I love it when I come across clever or interesting usages of them. Here is a good example from Sharesomecandy.com.

Souvenirs for your ears

Ever go on vacation, only to find only cheesy or edible souvenirs? Sure you could always take photos, but who wants to lug around a camera, prints, or a laptop everytime you want to tell people about your experience?

Enter Fluid Forms, makers of the Streets Clock. Their latest idea -- Streets Earrings.

They've invited interested customers to get in on batch 1, and with 22 days left have already exceeded their goal by $150. Not sure what is next now that batch 1 has been funded, but I'm guessing we can expect a batch 2 in the near future based on the support and excitement it has caused. You can pledge $1 or more, but only donations of $50 or more will get you a pair of the gold-plated earrings.

My birthday is in September. Who cares if my ears don't like gold? I'll take New York City.

Logo Design

I'm always very impressed with well done logos, and here's a good example of one:

Ruffle me up!

It's been several seasons since ruffles came into style in the fashion world...my closet can attest to that. One of my favorite purchases in the past year has been these gray satin ruffle heels by nina:

Imagine my excitement, then, when I saw this beauty over on Apartment Therapy:

In fact their whole post was about ruffles in the home. Check it out for more visual goodies. I'm in love.

Winter Cheer

For all of us that live in Northern California, we're no stranger to slightly colder weather, clouds and drear. Yet, in the midst of anything, something beautiful can be created.  Here's a little winter cheer from Design Crush.
